It is commonly accepted that you need a plan when you are trying to achieve anything of significance.
Starting a business? You need a business plan.
Saving money? A financial plan is what you need.
Changing your body? Do some random shit with no specific outcome in mind or direction to work towards. Preferably choose activities that are completely opposite to what you are trying to achieve. Oh, and also stop eating food.
HUH?
People will take advice from trainers who say working out should be fun. It shouldn’t be too hard because that’s not fun and it should be different every time so you can trick the body into change.
Trick the body into changing?
Do you know how epically stupid that sounds?
Your body isn’t dumb. Your body knows what you’re going to do before you know you’re going to do it. Your body is so much smarter than you.
Your body can’t be tricked. It needs to be told. It’s black and white. “DO THIS!” Eventually it will get the message and do it.
Doing a different workout every day just to keep it fun is kind of like going on a shopping spree 3 times a week because saving money is boring and hard. So in order to trick your bank account you need to drain it frequently.
In order to successfully change you body, you need a plan to do so. Step by step. Follow the plan and the changes will come. Deviate from the plan and now you’re not training for an outcome, you’re just working out with no end goal in mind and you aren’t going to change.
Want to make training fun? Train for progress. Making progress is fun. Doing things that you never thought possible is fun. Picking up weight that you couldn’t even comprehend is fun. Seeing your body change week in and week out is insanely fun.
Want to know what’s not fun? Making no progress. Doing stupid random activities designed to nothing more than keep you entertained and go no where. That’s not fun. You know what else isn’t fun? Starving yourself in order to get some kind of change because that “fun” training isn’t doing anything. That’s not fun.
Progress is fun.
