Every girl knows that one girl who lives on chocolate cake and wine and still looks like a Victoria Secret model.
Fuck that bitch.
Every guy knows that one dude who lives on beer, vodka and meat pies and walks around in better condition than most people standing on stage.
Fuck that asshole.
I hate genetically gifted people!
I always get depressed when iI see someone with an absolutely incredible body, guy or girl, and then see their awful training. It’s so unfair! Half squats going straight into the knees. Short leg presses. Deadlifts with the bar 30cm away from their shins. All light weights. Nothing ever heavy. Glute kickbacks or fucking hip thrusts! It makes me jealous and depressed.
Jealous because they are lucky enough to be those gifted people who can do such useless and stupid training and look amazing. I can’t train that bad and change my body. I’ve tried. I need to push my body to absolute breaking point with weight and reps to get it to maybe slightly change.
Depressed because these people are held in such high regard due to the way they look that people think what works for them will work for the masses.
The internet is literally full of people making hundred of thousands of dollars, driving around in exotic cars and living in luxury homes, all paid for by selling advice that only works for a fractional few to people who just aren’t that lucky.
I was watching a training video on Youtube the other day. Some massive guy with T-rex arms, a chest 5 times the size of his head and the ability to bend his back to resemble a Mc Donald’s arch. Not surprisingly he was giving advice on how to bench. His range of motion was about 2mm.
I looked at my chest and arms. I tried arching my back that arches about as much a steel girder and thought, “That’s not going to work for me.”
It’s the same when I see people with legs the same length as a toddler giving advice on how to squat.
It got me thinking and you wanna know what I’ve learnt over the years?
For us normal folk, never take advice from genetically gifted people, because if you’re not genetically gifted like them, pretty much everything they have to say has no relevance to you.
Want to build bigger calves? Taking advice from a guy who has midget legs, calves that insert into his glute and extend all the way under his feet to his big toe is useless. He has no idea how to build calves. He was given calves from birth. All he had to do was stand up and his calves grew. He thinks he has the answer, and he does: be born with them.
Want to build bigger arms? Why would I take advice from Phil Heath? Phil Heath had pro bodybuilder arms before he was a bodybuilder! He doesn’t know anything about building arms. He was given arms.
Want nutritional advice? Don’t take advice on how to eat by someone who can eat anything they want when ever they want.
If you’re fat, unfortunately you’re not the person who can eat what ever they want. The fact that you’re fat proves that.
IIFYM allows you to eat what ever you want so long as it fits your macros and you wont get fat. Really? I know plenty of people who got real fat by substituting rice for chocolate even though the chocolate still fit their macros. I know people who got fat from alternating between rice, pasta and potato because it fit their macros!
Most of the people who advocate IIFYM are those genetically gifted people who eat and drink what ever they want and still walk around in stage condition. If you aren’t one of those people don’t take advice from them. You’re just not that person.
Find someone who is like you but better, and listen to what they have to say. If you need to work on something find someone who worked on it with success and implement what they did.
Bodybuilding in all forms is a sport of genetically gifted people. The best of the best were born to be the best. There is a world of difference between the work of the guy who did 2 sets of db curls and grew an inch on his arms to the guy who needed 12 months to do the same. If you’re the guy who can do 2 sets, consider yourself stupidly lucky and blessed. If you’re the guy who needs 12 months or longer, don’t listen to the guy who only needs 2 sets. You’re just not that guy.
Genetically gifted people are to be envied and hated. We all wish we were them and we are jealous of what they can naturally do with ease. If you’re not one of those rare gifted people, it doesn’t mean you cant do things, it just means it wont come as easy.
Find someone who had to put in the work to achieve their goal. Never take advice, and dear god never pay for it, from someone who never really had to work for it.
